Plantease

Final Project · Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design · 2021

What if your plants could tell you exactly what they needed?

Plantease is a conceptual mobile app designed for self-proclaimed "plant killers." Instead of relying on traditional care guides, the app gives every plant its own voice and personality, turning everyday plant care into a playful conversation.

The Concept

Most plant care apps focus on information. Plantease focuses on motivation.

Plants communicate directly with their owners in first person - asking for water, reacting with dramatic GIFs when neglected, and celebrating when properly cared for. The goal was to replace complicated care instructions with an emotional experience that encourages people to build lasting habits.

Powered by environmental sensors, the app translates live data such as humidity, weather conditions, mold, and fertilizer levels into simple, actionable tasks. Users can also build their own digital garden by manually adding plants or identifying them from a photo.

Rather than teaching people how to care for plants, Plantease explores how personality, conversation, and emotional design can make people want to care for them.
